When you were a kid did you ever dream of being Batman? Historics auctions house is now giving you the chance since they are auctioning off a Batmobile.
There are some things you should be aware of here. The Batmobile going up for auction is not one that was used on a movie set and technically it is a Batmobile replica. However, if you check out the pictures it still looks pretty badass.
This particular Batmobile replica was modeled after the Batmoblie that was used by the mask hero in the 1989 and 1992 Batman movies starring Michael Keaton who played Bruce Wayne (aka Batman). The design then was used in several comic books in addition to the Batman: The Animated Series. This Batmobile design was used for marketing ‘OnStar’ in 1999.
While this isn’t quite as cool as the Batmobile used in the recent Batman movies directed by Christoper Nolan and starring Christian Bale, it still is a slick car. It is easily one of the most popular Batmobiles of all time along with the 1966 Batmobile. The original Batmobile used by Adam West in Batman TV series was auctioned off not too long ago for a cool $4.2 million. I can only imagine what insurance must cost.
This tribute Batmobile going up for auction has bee used extensively for promotional purposes and has been displayed at different exhibitions and car shows. The Batmobile comes built on a customized chassis and is fitted with a straight 6, fuel injected modern Jaguar 3.2 liter engine with an automatic transmission. (I guess you can’t have everything.) There are lots of gadgets to fight crime which includes a fully operational flame thrower at the rear, hydraulic suspension enabling the car to be lifted a further 9 inches off the ground, a smoke release mechanism, remote full releasing electronic canopy, remote ignition and full LED running lights, dashboard display and front and rear camera’s complete the specification.
Did I mention it’s road legal too? Just imagine picking a date in a Batmobile. The Batmobile auction is slated for end of the month on November 30th, 2013. It will take place at Historics auction house located in Surrey, UK. The estimated auction range Historics estimates is £70,000 – £90,000 British pounds which is $112,00 – $144,000 US Dollars roughly.
