If you love Rally Racing I’m sure one of the most exciting parts of the sport for you is when it seems like a driver is going to crash, but then makes a great maneuver to save his car. Such was the case with Oscar Barroso and his co-driver David Miguez at the 2014 Rallye Ourense in Spain. You can see the car going up on two wheels as he rounds the corner at Pedro de Rocas and it almost looks like the car will tip over but Barroso doesn’t let that happen. Is this the best rally racing save ever?

I think once people in this country start to follow rally racing, they will be hooked. I have seen so many stunts that defy the laws of physics and gravity watching these drivers handle cars on rocky roads at 130 MPH or more.
It’s hooked me. 🙂
I used to watch rally racing on Speed, then Velocity, now I can’t find it. My favorite scene was from an old race. A car comes crashing into a field flipping and barrel rolling. It stops wheels down. Driver and co-driver climb out. Nobody killed or hurt (unlike in so many crashes of that era). Then a local fire truck arrives going too fast. It turns sharply, then it rolls over the rally car. You just can’t get that kind of entertainment watching NASCARs turn left for 2 hours.
You don’t like watching NASCAR John? 🙂
Some of the maneuvers rally drivers do are pretty crazy, especially when you consider they don’t drive the course before they race it. Having a good co-pilot to read pace notes is pretty important.
They seem to be cutting back a lot of automotive and race programming these days. Kind of sad but the Speed channel wasn’t really doing anything new. I think you can livestream a lot of the race nowadays though.
