I was pleased recently to drive a Tesla Model S 85P. I was very impressed with the build quality of the car compared to other top of the line current cars on the market. The fact that the electric drive was as close to flawless as I had dreamed it could eventually be was even more impressive.
My first impression of the rolling chassis on display in the showroom was that it looked much like the chassis of a modern race car. Take away that beautiful body and trim and put on a bare bones racing body and cage and it could be one very fast car around most road courses.
Looking forward to reading what is coming up in your next articles.
Thank you for your work and your dedication to that work.
I was astonished when I saw the chassis at the store. It was better than what I expected. When I met Franz von Holtzhausen in 2009, he was excited about designing a car without the constraints of placing a gasoline engine and a fuel tank. It really dawned on him he could finally build a car that would be solid, handle like it should and be stunning. When I saw the results, I felt he did all of the above.
A race Model S would be a stripped down version, but it would need to be modified, both easthetically and technically.
