subaru isle of man lap

Early this month we reported on the ridiculously fast lap that Mark Higgins set on the world famous Isle of Man TT course in a mostly stock Subaru WRX STI.  The tight 37-mile race circuit is widely consider one of the most dangerous and difficult in the world, if not the most difficult, since you race on public roads on the Isle of Man.  It can be bumpy, uneven, and there have been many that have died racing on the fabled Isle of Man course.

Subaru had promised to release a full video of the Higgins record setting Isle of Man lap… and now they have. “Flat Out: The Full Lap,” as they are calling it, shows the in-car excitement and intensity as Mark Higgins snakes his way through the Isle of Man course driving a 2015 Subaru WRX STI.  His average speed was 117.510 MPH and his record time was 19 minutes and 15 seconds.

Watch the video below as Higgins narrates his lap and you can see vital information like speed, g-force, and even his heart rate.  Also checkout the second video where Dominick Infante, Subaru’s national product manager, talks about the 2015 Subaru WRX STI and what they had to do to setup the car and the modifications they performed to make it worthy of an Isle of Man record.

  1. Holy crap, that’s Dominick! He was the Subaru rep here up until recently! He’s the one who handed me thekeys for the BRZ on the race track last year. 🙂 Awesome.
