Land Cruiser Making 70th Anniversary Comeback

Toyota is giving the legendary 1970s-1980s Land Cruiser a comeback. Called the Land Cruiser 70 Series, the models are based closely on the Cruisers of legend. Exterior styling is from the early portion of the 1970s while drivetrain details will be much more modern. The Cruiser 70 will also meet all modern safety and emissions requirements.

Although these are Japan-market only, it’s very cool. The engine will be the 228 HP V6 found in Toyota’s truck and SUV line mated to a five-speed manual transmission with part-time four-wheel drive via a shift-controlled transfer case. Locking differentials and a winch are optional equipment.

Here are some videos Toyota made about the Land Cruiser 70.
