Volvo XC90 Sells Out in 47 Hours

The new, First Edition of the Volvo XC90 sold out within two days of its introduction, reports Volvo. 1,927 of the exclusive crossover were up for grabs when it released for sale on Wednesday last week and reserves quickly jumped to near-full within hours. In 47 hours, all 1,927 were spoken for.

“We are very pleased, but not really surprised,” said Alain Visser, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Sales and Customer Service of Volvo Car Group. “The huge interest in the XC90 escalated to astronomical levels after the world premiere last week.”

The 1,927 crossovers to be built were in honor of the year the company was founded. Uniquely numbered tread plates and badge on the tailgate both denote the production number of the XC90 in question.

The Volvo XC90 comes with an Onyx Black exterior, 21-inch 8-spoke wheels, a nappa leather interior in Amber, and a Charcoal leather dashboard with Linear Walnut inlays. A high-performance gas or diesel engine will power the XC90 from the company’s Drive-E powertrains.
