Herbie the Love Bug Could Be Yours!

Fans of the Herbie series of films rejoice! You may have a chance to get your hands on this iconic Volkswagen Bug at an upcoming auction. The lovable #53, fully restored to movie-ready condition inside and out, will go under the hammer at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach later this month.

The car is one of several used in the Herbie film franchise, of course, but only a handful remain with full provenance. This particular 1963 VW Bug appeared in 1977’s Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. This is the one which “pees” oil on someone’s shoe and is still equipped to do so today.

The car features a 1835cc engine with Kadron Solex carburetors and Firestone racing tires. It’s changed hands several times since being in the film, of course, but has full paperwork to prove its provenance. Very, very cool. It’s a working, running, drivable #53! Get more details from Barrett-Jackson and bid to win!
