Knight Rider’s KITT Going To Auction

One of the 1983 Pontiac Trans Am cars used in the 1980s television series Knight Rider is heading to auction at Christie’s. The car, which was one of a handful used in the show’s run as co-star alongside David Hasselhoff (better known as “The Hoff,” he’s big in Germany) will be auctioned later this week with bidding online to be included.

The auction is timed to run alongside the Gumball 3000 motor rally that runs all month with various points along the route having items up for bid. Things being auctioned include Mike Tyson’s boxing gloves, a snare drum signed by Tommy Lee, and KITT. The car will be up for sale on Saturday, May 30th.

The car is located in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be live on Saturday. Online bids will be submitted alongside live auction bids at the event. Christie’s expects the car will fetch six figures, so talk to your banker before you start bidding. Note also that the car doesn’t apparently come with much provenance, so it may be a “replica” (as stated) rather than an actual set car. Caveat emptor and all that.
