One of my favorite things to say is “Wankel Rotary Engine.” I don’t get to often enough. It’s one of the more innovative and interesting engine designs we’ve seen in automotive and for a while, Mazda made a name for themselves with it.
Although largely out of production for automotive now, it’s quite likely that the rotary engine will make a comeback in some form soon. The design has some strengths that could be applied to certain automotive tasks such as power generation or hydrogen burning.

Interesting story idea. 🙂
I wonder what the automotive world would have looked like if this design would have really caught on and been a big hit.
Similar to what it would be like had the boxer engine (ala Subaru, Porsche) become the norm. Smoother and more balanced. 🙂
