5 things you will probably want to buy for your first car

When you first get a car, you typically want it to look good inside and out, so there are some things that you might want to buy to help keep it that way.

If you have just purchased or are about to purchase your very first vehicle, then you are probably very excited. When you first get a car, you typically want it to look good inside and out, so there are some things that you might want to buy to help keep it that way – here are 5 of them.

Air freshener

Air fresheners don’t just keep your car smelling decent but can also make a pretty cool addition to your car interior. Perhaps you want an iconic set of cherries to accentuate the color of your car seats, or maybe you prefer to awaken your senses with the scent of pine from a traditional Magic Tree.

Whatever you opt for, an air freshener has got to feature somewhere in your top five car accessories.

Mobile phone holder

You obviously can’t use your phone when driving, so you need somewhere to put it. You could shove it in your glove box, but it’s safer to keep it somewhere that is easily accessible, so a mobile phone holder is ideal. You do get a few different styles, so it’s worth trying a few out until you find one that has the functionality you need.

Extended warranty

A warranty gives you peace of mind that if anything goes wrong with your vehicle, you should be able to get it fixed, but the cover period varies from vehicle to vehicle, so you must check this. Many second-hand dealers, for example, will only offer a 30-day warranty, in which case you may want to sort out an extended warranty for when this period lapses.

The extended warranty premium, as well as the cover, will vary from company to company, so it’s worth familiarising yourself with some of the worst extended auto warranty companies so that you know who to avoid if you do decide to purchase it.

Car washing equipment

Although the novelty may eventually wear off, getting a new car is like having a new baby – you want to keep it looking clean and presentable. You can, of course, take your vehicle to a car wash or valet service once in a while, but if you prefer doing it at home, then it’s worth heading to the nearest store and stocking up on cleaning products for both the outside and the interior. A power washer will also come in quite handy if your budget can stretch that far.

If you don’t already have one, then you can’t go wrong with a car vacuum cleaner to get into all those hard-to-reach places.

First aid kit

Accidents can happen, so it’s always wise to carry a compact first aid box in your glove compartment. You never knew when your child might need a band-aid or a makeshift arm sling, so keep the basics to hand and restock when necessary.

It will give you a little comfort knowing that you have a bit of first aid assistance when and if you need it.
