Why leaving us comments means news freedom

airbagToday, we stray from our busy news hunting to talk about something you can do to help us independent journalists. It takes very little time and your effort goes a long way towards supporting independent news sites, such as CarNewsCafe.com And no, we are not asking for money (though you’re more than welcome to send some if you’d like).

CarNewsCafe is about Independence

We started CarNewsCafe over a year ago for various reasons. Personally, I’m not interested in chasing after the latest news to get you addicted, walking away without understanding the bigger picture. We have too many “news” sites, most of them regurgitate PR releases with little to no thinking behind it. It does you a disservice and you rarely walk away understanding what is really going, nor are you able to make up your own mind.

This is what we do here

We wake up every day, with the same drive and enthusiasm to write and bring you the news. Sometimes it’s hard… very hard. It’s tough when you leave comments on social media sites that already capitalize on your comments. Although we welcome social media sites, and they have done a great job at bringing us together, they don’t drive business our way. We drive it to them and are left to pay for everything else. We created CarNewsCafe because we believe you need to know what is happening in the automotive world, with as little sensationalism as possible, but we didn’t create it to let others make money with your comments. In other words, we’re paying for everything. We put our own money in CarNewsCafe and the other sites we have. We don’t see many reasons to give those sites more money than they already have without driving comments back here.

But…

We all need to eat and sleep with a roof over our heads. As much as we would love to, we don’t ask you for direct contributions to get access to our site. We strike an uneasy relationship with very profitable social media sites. When we post our latest articles there, they make money on your comments. We don’t. That’s why we need your comments on the original articles here on CarNewsCafe.com after we post them on those social media sites. After all, it’s only fair to spread the love, no?

Do the right thing, comment here 😉

We use every bit we have to pay for hosting, travel, and buy equipment to deliver you the news. That’s why my videos are shaky and the microphone dodgy! So, we’d like to ask you, who would you like to help? Those who regurgitate, or those with the drive to constantly bring you relevant news? Better yet, which one contributes the most to society? The ones who bring you the news or the ones who plaster it in your mailbox? There has to be a balance and you can help us make it by writing all the comments you leave elsewhere here.

We really appreciate your patronage. In a very short year and a few months, we have gone from brand new to now over 16,000 visits a month and climbing. The past six months we went from an Alexa ranking of 1,000,000 to close to 100,000. We couldn’t do it without you, but we really need you to leave the comments you write on social media sites here to continue to boost our rankings.

Thanks, on behalf of the CarNewsCafe team.
