Two things that wouldn’t normally be associated with cars, heavy metal and skateboarding, were inspirations for two concept cars from Scion that will appear at the upcoming Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association show in Las Vegas this November.
The Scion x Slayer Mobile Amp tC was inspired by iconic heavy metal band Slayer. A Scion tC coupe was transformed with band-inspired details as well as a huge amount of audio equipment. With a multimedia audio-focused build that includes towers of speakers, custom amplifiers, a custom mixer, and a 32-inch monitor for playback, the Scion x Slayer Mobile Amp tC was designed by Mike Vu of MV DESIGNZ.
“Slayer’s fans are going to be excited when we reveal what a metal-inspired Scion tC looks like,” Slayer guitarist Kerry King said. “Working with Scion has given us another way to reach new audiences and inspire them to keep going down their own paths.”
For his part, Riley Hawk (aka “The Other Hawk”) teamed with KMA Productions to create the Scion x Riley Hawk Skate Tour xB. Featuring 1970s style and a lot of surfer-inspired appeal, the xB has details like wood grain paneling, bubble windows, shag carpeting, an orange and yellow striped paint job, and even an 8-track player.
“Every element of this Scion xB represents some part of my life,” Riley said. “I’m looking forward to showing it at SEMA and having people check it out!”
Several other Scion vehicles with unique designs will also be showcased at SEMA, including three FR-S coupes built as part of the 10th annual Scion Tuner Challenge.
