Forsberg Racing puts Nissan Frontier off-road concept to the test

Forsberg will race a specially prepared Nissan Frontier build in the grueling NORRA 500 race in Baja California, Oct. 19-22.

Nissan is teaming up with Forsberg Racing and multi-time Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg to push the company’s thrilling products to their limits with the Forsberg Frontier Off-Road Race Truck concept1. Forsberg will race a specially prepared Nissan Frontier build in the grueling NORRA 500 race in Baja California, Oct. 19-22.

The Forsberg team worked closely with Nissan to outfit the Frontier with NISMO Off Road parts for the rigors of the desert race. Competing in the stock vehicle class will allow the Forsberg team to explore the impressive factory capabilities of Frontier as well as the performance enhancements enabled by NISMO Off Road products.

Key equipment on the race truck includes:

  • NISMO Off Road lift kit and high-performance suspension kit
  • NISMO Axis Truck Beadlock 17-inch wheels with Yokohama GEOLANDAR M/T G003 tires
  • NISMO Off Road lighting upgrades
  • NISMO Off Road rock sliders
  • NISMO Forsberg Racing designed graphics package

“The Forsberg Racing team is poised for victory with this rugged machine, combining the incredible capability of the Nissan Frontier with the targeted enhancements of NISMO Off Road parts,” said Chris Forsberg. “There’s no better test for this purpose-built vehicle than the exhilarating NORRA 500.”

This year’s NORRA 500 features challenging off-road racing over the course of two days, starting in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, heading to San Felipe on the Sea of Cortéz, and returning to finish on the beach in Ensenada. It continues Nissan’s lengthy off-road racing history, which includes the original Nissan Hardbody truck winning the Baja 1000, Mint 400 and Gold Coast 300 races in the late 1980s.

After the competition, Nissan will showcase the Forsberg Frontier Off-Road Race Truck – in as-raced condition – at the 2023 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Oct. 31-Nov. 3. Chris Forsberg will also be on hand for autographs, interviews and photos at Nissan’s Thrill Street exhibit in the Las Vegas Convention Center West Hall, booth #52141.

Nissan will show a number of thrilling concept vehicles at this year’s SEMA show. Full details of these models will be announced at a later date.

Forsberg Racing and Nissan have enjoyed many collaborations on racing and concept vehicles, including such diverse creations as a V8-powered Frontier concept, a Nissan Z drift car and the unforgettable, 2,000-horsepower Altimaniac.
