Canadian comedian and actor Norm MacDonald recently attended Emoji Academy. This is part of a campaign by Chevy to target the coveted social media savvy generation that loves using these. Such emoticons appear regularly in texts and twitter messages.
Anyway, Norm MacDonald attending emoji academy can be watched in a 4 part series posted to Chevy’s Youtube channel. His teachers, I believe, are some YouTube or social media celebrities.
Chevrolet released a press release in June that was all in Emoji along with these web series. The emoji press release made many veteran press and marketers a bit unhappy and perplexed. Chevy has been encouraging people to use the the #ChevyGoesEmoji hashtag. Since the emoji press release generate a ton of press, articles, and media… in all honesty it seemed to have done it’s job.
Editor’s Note – If you are not sure what Emoji or emoticons are, they are symbols to express feelings. Which plain text sometimes cannot.
