Hyundai Creates New Universal Wheel Drive System

The UWDS would place space-hogging functions into the wheel of the EV.

Hyundai has developed a new Universal Wheel Drive System meant to replace the CV joint, drive shaft, and reducer traditionally used in a vehicle’s chassis. The UWDS would place all of those functions into the wheel of the EV in a more compact package. Hyundai produced a video to explain the idea:
