2027 Subaru Getaway: Subaru’s First Three-Row EV Breaks Cover

The design balances ruggedness with a more modern, aerodynamic look.

At the New York International Auto Show, Subaru unveiled its first-ever all-electric three-row SUV—the 2027 Subaru Getaway. Designed to blend family practicality with the brand’s adventure-ready DNA, the Getaway marks a major step forward in Subaru’s electrification strategy.

The Getaway isn’t just about going electric, it’s about doing it with authority. Dual electric motors deliver a combined 420 horsepower, making it the most powerful production Subaru to date. Acceleration is brisk, with a 0–60 mph time of under five seconds, while standard all-wheel drive keeps it true to Subaru’s core identity.

Range is equally competitive, with more than 300 miles available from a large 95.8-kWh battery. Fast-charging capability (up to 150 kW) allows a 10–80% recharge in about 30 minutes, and a built-in battery preconditioning system helps maintain performance in cold climates.

Built for Adventure—Even as an EV

Subaru didn’t abandon its off-road roots. The Getaway comes standard with 8.3 inches of ground clearance and the brand’s X-MODE dual-mode system, offering settings for snow, dirt, and mud.

With a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds, it’s positioned as more than just a family hauler—it’s an electric SUV that can still handle weekend escapes and light trail duty.

Three Rows, Real Space

Inside, the Getaway is designed for flexibility and comfort:

  • Seating for up to seven passengers
  • Available second-row captain’s chairs
  • Power-folding third row
  • Up to 45.6 cubic feet of cargo space with seats down

Subaru emphasizes usability, with easy third-row access, generous legroom across all rows, and thoughtful storage throughout the cabin.

The cabin leans heavily into modern tech, anchored by:

  • A massive 14-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Multiple USB-C ports and wireless charging

Driver assistance is comprehensive, thanks to Subaru’s EyeSight suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, and emergency stop assist.

Bold New Design Direction

The Getaway introduces Subaru’s next-gen EV styling language, featuring:

  • Illuminated six-star logo and distinctive lighting signature
  • Flush door handles and clean body lines
  • Available 19- and 20-inch wheels
  • Functional roof rails for added utility

The design balances ruggedness with a more modern, aerodynamic look; clearly signaling Subaru’s EV future.

The 2027 Subaru Getaway is expected to arrive in U.S. dealerships in late 2026, becoming the fourth EV in Subaru’s growing lineup.
