How To Keep Your New Car New

If you’ve just bought a new car, whether it be your first, or your eighth, there are many things that you can do to ensure that it is well looked after. Because it’s your new baby, it’s normal to want to take everything super easy as not to damage it. You’ll find yourself closing the door as lightly as you can. Not allowing any food or drink inside your vehicle. Always wiping down the dashboard, and making sure there are no fingerprints left on your windows. But within a month or two, you’ll soon forget and pick up all those bad habits.

While some are harmless, others can take their toll on your car, and that’s not what you want to happen. So here are all the best ways you can make sure you look after your car properly.

Drive with care

This should be all the time, regardless of if your car is new or not. This is just common sense. But it’s wise to remember that if you’re going around showing off, driving like a lunatic, then you will hugely increase the amount of wear and tear that is being had on your new vehicle – even more so when the temperature is cold. This can affect the engine and the breaks more than anything, so try and avoid any hard accelerating during the first 15 minutes of driving whenever you start your car up. You should also be aware of what’s on the road, like potholes and bumps, and always drive within the speed limit.

Take it to the doctors

Just like how it’s important that we follow up on our regular check-ups at the doctors and dentist, your car needs to have it’s routine maintenance checks at Auto Repair to ensure that everything is running smoothly how it should. This needs to be done because you may not even realise that there is a problem; there may be no signs or symptoms, like funny noises or difficulties, and yet you may have a slight issue with your motor. So see an expert every now and again.

Let your car breathe

You should change the car’s air filter regularly – every 12,000 miles to be exact. This is because any dirty air that is being breathed in by your car can really affect the way it performs as it can damage the engine. When the filter gets clogged with debris and dust (which is inevitable if you don’t clean and change it when necessary), nothing will work to the best of its ability, because this will cause a problem. So by cleaning out and replacing the air filter when required, will allow your car to breathe again, and will even improve the overall fuel efficiency. A bonus is that they’re not even expensive to buy, so there’s no reason you can’t afford one.

As long as you follow these basics, there is no reason your car won’t last as long as it was designed to.
