In a highly anticipated moment at the IAA Mobility event in Munich on September 5, 2025, BMW revealed its all-new iX3 EV, marking the first model in the brand’s ambitious “Neue Klasse” lineup. This isn’t merely an update, though. It’s a defining leap forward in technology, design, and driving enjoyment.
BMW’s new design language is clean, modern, and character-rich. Stripped down to its essence, it’s described as both timeless and unmistakably BMW. The iX3’s interior mirrors this philosophy—minimalist, uncluttered, and deeply driver-focused—creating a seamless bridge between tradition and forward-thinking innovation.
Equipped with the sixth-generation BMW eDrive system, the iX3 delivers a WLTP-certified range of up to 805 kilometers, setting a new benchmark for efficiency and distance. It supports ultra-fast charging at up to 400 kW, dramatically reducing downtime for long-distance drivers.
The iX3 ushers in BMW’s Panoramic iDrive, a fused display-and-control system crafted around the driver. The cockpit is uncluttered yet immersive, marrying the tactile ease of physical controls with the expansiveness of modern digital interfaces.
BMW plans to launch the iX3 across key markets in spring 2026 in Europe and summer 2026 in the U.S. At the same time, a China-specific variant will also enter production, tailored to regional customer preferences and rolling out from BMW’s Shenyang facility.
What Lies Ahead
As the inaugural model in the Neue Klasse, the iX3 signifies more than a single EV—it’s the start of a fundamental transformation. Future models across BMW’s range will adopt its new design language, advanced electrification tech, and digital-first approach. For drivers and industry watchers alike, the iX3 is more than a new car—it’s the beginning of BMW’s electrified evolution.
