Mazda has unveiled an all-new CX-5, coming as the newest generation of the popular crossover. The new CX-5 is larger, has more interior room, and will have a hybrid model coming for the 2027 model year.
Design & Dimensions
- Bolder exterior styling with a more chiseled front fascia, wider stance, and 19″ wheel options. Styling cues are inspired by the CX‑70 and CX‑90 and a Japanese “Kigumi” joinery philosophy.
- Larger footprint: +4.5″ in length and wheelbase, over an inch wider — boosting cabin space and exterior presence.
Cabin Comfort
- More passenger room: rear leg, knee, headroom all increased; wider door openings for easier entry.
- Improved cargo area: cargo length +2″, height +1″, and lower lift-in height by over half an inch.
- Refined interior: minimalist design with premium materials, ambient LED lighting on doors (7 color options), creating a serene, high-end space.
Infotainment & Tech
- 15.6″ integrated touchscreen—the largest ever in a Mazda—features Google Built‑In, with upcoming Google Gemini for advanced voice control.
- Cloud-connected features: Google Maps integration, access to saved places, and compatibility with Google Play Store apps .
Performance & Safety
- Standard engine: 2.5 L SkyActiv‑G I4 delivering 187 hp and 185 lb‑ft torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic and standard i-Activ all-wheel drive; tuned for balance between responsiveness and refinement.
- Hybrid on the way: A SkyActiv‑Z hybrid powertrain is planned for 2027, enhancing efficiency and driving engagement.
- Advanced safety: Continues Mazda’s IIHS Top Safety Pick+ legacy, with updated suite of driver assistance systems.
The 2026 CX‑5 heads to dealers in early 2026.
