Mercedes-AMG Teases Next-Gen GT3 and Extreme Black Series with TRACK SPORT Concept

AMG is aiming squarely at the top of both worlds.

Mercedes-AMG is turning last year’s bold CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT into something much bigger than a design exercise. The aggressive concept has now been confirmed as the foundation for two upcoming halo vehicles: the next-generation Mercedes-AMG GT3 race car and a future Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series road monster.

Positioned as a technology platform from the outset, the TRACK SPORT concept embodies AMG’s core promise—uncompromising performance on both track and street. According to AMG leadership, the goal is clear: build the most extreme Black Series model ever while simultaneously delivering a new benchmark competitor in GT3 motorsport.

The dual-purpose approach means the road-going Black Series will serve as the homologation base for the GT3 race car, reinforcing AMG’s deep-rooted philosophy of transferring racing DNA directly to production vehicles. Development is already well underway, with camouflaged prototypes undergoing rigorous testing at circuits including Immendingen, Bilster Berg, Portimão, Monteblanco, and now the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Visually, AMG is also drawing a clearer line between its road and race machines. Future GT3 models will adopt red as a signature motorsport color, while Black Series variants will wear yellow accents—both derived from the TRACK SPORT concept’s striking livery.

The upcoming GT3 continues a legacy that began with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 in 2011 and evolved through the current Mercedes-AMG GT3 and its Evo update. Development of the new racer is being spearheaded by Affalterbach Racing GmbH alongside AMG Motorsport, with a focus on raising the bar in performance, safety, and competitiveness.

On the road side, the Black Series lineage—dating back to 2006—remains AMG’s ultimate expression of performance. Rooted in motorsport heritage that stretches to the brand’s 1967 founding, these models distill track capability into street-legal form, pushing engineering limits with each iteration.

With the TRACK SPORT concept bridging past and future, Mercedes-AMG is setting the stage for two defining vehicles that promise to elevate both customer racing and high-performance road cars. More details are expected as development progresses, but one thing is already certain: AMG is aiming squarely at the top of both worlds.
