Cooper Tires is expanding its lineup with the all-new Discoverer HT, a highway-focused mixed-terrain tire designed for truck and SUV owners who need everyday comfort, dependable handling, and the durability to handle hauling and towing duties.
Available now, the Discoverer HT is designed for drivers who use their vehicles for everything from daily commutes and family road trips to hauling equipment and towing trailers. The new tire combines a focus on highway performance with construction intended to withstand the demands of regular truck and SUV use.
“The toughest jobs aren’t always the biggest ones. They’re the ones you show up for every day,” said Brad Heim, vice president of Product Development Global Consumer at Goodyear. He added that the Discoverer HT is designed to deliver everyday comfort and dependable highway performance, whether drivers are carrying heavy loads, towing trailers, or covering hundreds of miles in a day.
Designed for Highway Comfort and Heavy Loads
The Cooper Discoverer HT features tall, straight sidewalls and an optimized tread footprint designed to maximize the amount of rubber contacting the road. According to Cooper, this combination helps improve handling and stability, particularly when a vehicle is carrying heavy loads.
The tire also incorporates 3D Micro-Gauge technology to help maintain traction throughout its service life. Its long-wearing tread design is intended to deliver durability while keeping road noise in check, including when driving over rough or uneven surfaces.
For truck owners who spend most of their time on pavement but occasionally venture onto less-than-perfect roads, the Discoverer HT aims to balance everyday drivability with the durability expected of a tire designed for pickup trucks and SUVs.
The tire’s construction is also intended to support hauling, towing, and other work-related tasks. That makes it a potential option for drivers who need their trucks to function as both daily transportation and working equipment.
Treadwear Warranties Offer Long-Term Value
Cooper is backing the Discoverer HT with different limited treadwear warranties depending on tire size and type.
Metric sizes receive a 70,000-mile limited treadwear warranty, while LT-Metric sizes receive a 55,000-mile warranty. These ratings reflect the different demands placed on passenger-oriented and light-truck tire constructions.
The longer warranty for Metric sizes may appeal to drivers prioritizing highway mileage and everyday comfort, while the LT-Metric versions are intended for applications where the tire must accommodate the demands of light-truck use.
Of course, actual tire life will depend on factors such as vehicle weight, driving habits, road conditions, inflation pressure, and maintenance. A treadwear warranty is not a guarantee that every tire will reach its advertised mileage, but it provides a useful benchmark when comparing options.
U.S. Manufacturing and Expanding Availability
Cooper says the Discoverer HT was developed in the United States and is manufactured at three domestic facilities in Texarkana, Arkansas; Findlay, Ohio; and Tupelo, Mississippi.
The tire’s initial rollout includes 15 sizes, with additional fitments planned to broaden coverage across the truck and SUV market. Cooper’s announcement outlines a range of rim diameters from 16 to 22 inches.
The company’s availability timeline calls for 19 popular sizes beginning in October 2026, followed by an additional 16 LT sizes anticipated in the first quarter of 2027. The lineup expansion should provide more options for owners of vehicles requiring light-truck tire specifications.
Drivers can check available sizes and purchase options through authorized Cooper tire retailers or the company’s official website at Cooper Tires.
A New Tire for Cooper’s Next Chapter
The Discoverer HT also arrives as Cooper continues to refresh its brand identity, emphasizing durability, strength, and confidence. The company says the updated branding reflects its goal of building tires suited to a wide range of activities, from family highway travel to towing boats and handling mixed-terrain driving.
“The Cooper Discoverer HT reflects more than a century of U.S. manufacturing expertise behind the Cooper brand,” said Alain Kohnen, vice president of Global Manufacturing at Goodyear. He described the tire as an example of the company’s focus on producing durable, high-quality products for everyday drivers.
Founded more than a century ago, Cooper has built much of its reputation around tires for passenger vehicles, trucks, and SUVs. The Discoverer HT continues that focus with a product aimed at drivers who need a tire that can handle regular work without making every trip feel like one.
For owners who spend most of their time on paved roads but still expect their trucks and SUVs to haul, tow, and handle uneven surfaces, the Discoverer HT offers a new option focused on longevity, stability, and everyday comfort.
Its success will ultimately depend on real-world performance, including wet-weather grip, noise levels, tread life, and how well it handles the loads owners actually carry. For now, Cooper is positioning the Discoverer HT as a durable, highway-oriented choice for drivers who put their vehicles to work during the week and take them on adventures when the workday ends.
