Today the United States Grand Prix is in Austin and four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel is going to wear a specially designed F1 Helmet with a theme to celebrate America (because we rock) and the city of Austin.  Vettel is wearing this USA themed helmet on Friday for free practice and Saturday for US Grand Prix qualifying.

The Infiniti Red Bull team driver selected the winning F1 helmet design from hundreds of entries submitted from around the United States as part of a design competition run by Infiniti.  The contest was run across different social media channels and networks.  Formula 1 fans were invited to try to capture the excitement of F1 racing, along with Vettel’s passion and performance in their helmet design while including a theme that fit with the USA and the city of Austin, where the US Grand Prix is being held.

Rolf Carsjens from Albuquerque, New Mexico design was the winner with his helmet design.  The top of the helmet features an American flag with a blue guitar with stars on it.  The bottom of the helmet features musical notes.  “The inspiration for my design emanated from the love to my American born wife, my family in both the United States and in Germany, and to the fellow men in all countries and the music which connects every individual on the planet.” said Carsjens about his F1 helmet design.

Infiniti flew Rolf and his wife Sheilagh to Austin so they could experience the United States Grand Prix this weekend.  They are spending the weekend enjoying an all expense paid trip with VIP hospitality, including getting a tour of the Infiniti Red Bull Racing garage and meeting the wunderkind driver Sebastian Vettel.

“I’m a die-hard fan of Sebastian Vettel,” said Carsjens. “His performance and professionalism as a young Formula 1 Driver is incredible. I also like his personality: He seems to be so humble and down to earth. I’m looking really forward to meeting Sebastian in person.”  Not surprisingly Rolf Carsjens is from Germany which explains his enthusiasm for a German F1 driver.

What do you think of Rolf’s F1 helmet for Sebastian Vettel?
