Aston Martin Builds a Motorcycle That Looks Like It Escaped From a Supercar Garage

The AMB 002 Roadster represents an interesting evolution for the Aston Martin/Brough Superior partnership.

Aston Martin has finally done something it probably should have done years ago: built a motorcycle you can actually ride on the road.

The AMB 002 Roadster is the latest collaboration between Aston Martin and Brough Superior, and it is considerably more than an Aston Martin badge slapped onto somebody else’s motorcycle. This is a ground-up machine combining Aston Martin’s obsession with sculptural design with Brough Superior’s rather unusual approach to motorcycle engineering.

And, because apparently owning a normal motorcycle isn’t sufficiently complicated, only 300 of them will be built.

The AMB 002 follows the track-only AMB 001 and AMB 001 Pro, introduced in 2019 and 2022 respectively. Those motorcycles established that Aston Martin could make a superbike look like a Valkyrie hypercar had been left in the photocopier overnight.

The new bike takes that idea and makes it road legal.

Aston Martin Design, Two-Wheeled

The AMB 002 is immediately recognizable as an Aston Martin product, despite having two wheels and considerably less space for luggage.

The carbon-fiber bodywork is dominated by smooth, flowing surfaces and a forward-biased stance. The fuel tank and side fairings are shaped almost like pieces of automotive bodywork, while crescent-shaped vents help cool the engine and manage airflow.

Then there are the Aston Martin Easter eggs.

The brand’s familiar side-strake has been reinterpreted on the motorcycle, running through the side fairing toward the headlamp. Twin oval exhausts get ribbed heat sinks inspired by the exhaust finishers used on Aston Martin’s Vanquish, DB12 S and DBX S.

The rear lighting is even more obviously borrowed from Aston Martin’s supercar vocabulary, with light blades echoing those used on the Vulcan, Valkyrie and Valhalla.

Because apparently a motorcycle needs to have more design lineage than most family sedans.

There are also luxury touches including keyless operation, a backlit ignition button and handcrafted saddle-leather seat pads.

Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s chief creative officer, says the AMB 002 represents a long-standing ambition to create an Aston Martin motorcycle for road use.

Mission accomplished.

The Interesting Bits Are Underneath

While the styling will probably be what gets the Instagram crowd excited, the AMB 002’s mechanical hardware is arguably more interesting.

At its center is an all-new 1,083cc water-cooled V-twin producing 130 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque.

Those numbers aren’t going to make liter-class superbike owners throw their helmets into the nearest lake, but the AMB 002 isn’t necessarily chasing the biggest dyno number. Its engine has been tuned around low- and mid-range torque, giving the bike what Brough Superior describes as responsive and accessible performance.

And there’s not much motorcycle to move.

The AMB 002 weighs just 190 kg.

Brough Superior also claims an unusual 50:50 weight distribution, helped by an extremely lightweight titanium frame and centralized mass.

That frame is one of the bike’s engineering party tricks. The titanium backbone is milled from solid billet and weighs only about 5 kg.

Five kilograms.

That’s roughly the weight of a particularly enthusiastic dog, and this thing is holding the motorcycle together.

The engine cases are also CNC-machined from billet and produced in-house at Brough Superior’s facility in Toulouse, France, using aerospace-oriented manufacturing techniques.

Then There’s the Fork

The front suspension is where the AMB 002 gets particularly weird—in a good way.

Instead of conventional telescopic forks, Brough Superior uses its Fior double-wishbone front suspension.

The system separates steering and braking forces, allowing the suspension and steering geometry to do their jobs without constantly arguing with one another. It also provides anti-dive characteristics under braking.

That’s particularly useful when braking hard while leaned over in a corner, which is exactly the sort of thing someone buying a hand-built Aston Martin motorcycle may eventually feel compelled to try.

The Fior system is an evolution of the setup used on the AMB 001 Pro, with the AMB 002 tuned for road use.

Combined with the low center of gravity, 50:50 distribution and relatively low weight, Brough Superior says the result is a motorcycle designed to feel agile without sacrificing high-speed stability.

In other words, this isn’t merely an Aston Martin-themed motorcycle for collectors who intend to park it in a glass box.

It’s supposed to be fun.

Exclusivity Comes Standard

Of course, “fun” is relative when you’re talking about a motorcycle that’s hand-built in a production run of just 300 examples.

Aston Martin and Brough Superior say the limited production is necessary because the level of craftsmanship and bespoke engineering involved isn’t compatible with mass production.

That’s corporate language for: We’re not making many of these.

Initial orders are already being accepted, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027.

The AMB 002 Roadster represents an interesting evolution for the Aston Martin/Brough Superior partnership. The first two motorcycles were essentially exotic track toys. This one is intended to be ridden on actual roads, presumably where it will spend a considerable amount of time making ordinary motorcycles look like they have been ordered from a catalog.

More importantly, it shows that Aston Martin’s design language can migrate surprisingly well to two wheels.

The AMB 002 doesn’t look like a motorcycle wearing an Aston Martin costume. It looks like what happens when Aston Martin designers are given permission to build a motorcycle and Brough Superior engineers are told that subtlety is optional.

With 130 hp, a 190-kg curb weight, a 5-kg titanium backbone, a bespoke V-twin and one of the strangest front suspension systems this side of a concept-bike show, the AMB 002 Roadster is about as far from transportation appliance as you can get.

And for 300 very fortunate—or financially irresponsible—riders, that’s precisely the point.
